One-Page Business Website — $297, delivered in 5 days
Hand-coded. Mobile-first. Sub-2-second load. Hosted free for year one. Source files yours. Built for businesses that want a real online presence without monthly platform fees or WordPress maintenance.
Why hand-coded vs WordPress / Wix / Squarespace
WordPress / Wix / Squarespace
- 4-7 second load (plugins + bloat)
- $20-40/month forever
- Vendor lock-in
- Monthly security patches
- Plugin compatibility headaches
Hand-coded (this service)
- <2 second load — Lighthouse 95+
- $0-12/year after year one
- Source files yours, no lock-in
- Nothing to patch — static HTML
- No plugins, nothing to break
What you get
- One responsive HTML page — hero, about, services, contact, all on one URL
- Mobile-first design — tested on iPhone + Android + tablet breakpoints
- Sub-2-second load time — Lighthouse target 95+ across Performance, Accessibility, Best Practices, SEO
- Contact form via Formspree free tier (50 submissions/month free)
- Google Maps embed for your business location
- Schema.org JSON-LD — LocalBusiness or ProfessionalService markup, whichever fits
- SEO infrastructure — title, meta description, canonical, OG tags, Twitter Card, sitemap.xml, robots.txt, alt text everywhere
- Free SSL + CDN via Vercel or Netlify free tier — 99.99% uptime
- Source files delivered — full HTML/CSS, owned by you, no lock-in
- 30-day post-launch support — small edits free, larger changes quoted
What you don't get (and why)
- Multiple pages. One-page sites convert better for most small businesses up to ~100 unique visitors/day. Add pages later at $97 each when traffic justifies it.
- WordPress / Wix / Squarespace. Those are sold as "easier" but they're slower, more expensive long-term, and harder to leave. Static HTML is what high-converting marketing sites actually use.
- E-commerce checkout. If you need a shopping cart, Shopify ($29/mo) or Stripe Payment Links ($0/mo) are the right tools. I can integrate Stripe Payment Links into the page as buttons; full Shopify store is a different service.
- Blog functionality. If content marketing is your strategy, I'd build this differently — a static site generator like Astro/Hugo. Quoted separately.
- Custom illustrations or photography. You provide brand assets (logo, photos, headshot). If you need design work, that's a separate quote.
How the 5 days work
Day 1 — intake
You send: business name, address, phone, hours, list of services with descriptions, brand colors (or "you pick"), logo (or "you design"), 5-10 photos (interior, team, work-in-progress), 3-5 keywords you want to rank for, and any existing site URL. I send a confirmation with ETA.
Day 2-3 — build
I write the HTML, choose typography, lay out the page, integrate Maps + contact form, write copy if you didn't provide it, optimize images, build schema markup.
Day 4 — staging review
You see a staging URL. Revisions on copy, colors, image placement. One round included.
Day 5 — launch
Site goes live on your domain (you provide DNS access, or I walk you through it). I send: live URL, login credentials, source files in a zip, 1-page maintenance guide.
FAQ
- Why hand-coded instead of WordPress / Wix / Squarespace?
- Three reasons. (1) Speed — hand-coded sites load in under 2 seconds; WordPress sites typically load in 4-7 seconds. Google ranks fast sites higher. (2) Cost — no platform fees after year one. WordPress hosting + plugins costs $20-40/month forever; this site is free to host on Vercel/Netlify free tier or $5-12/year on basic shared hosting. (3) Ownership — you get the source HTML/CSS files. No vendor lock-in, no surprise platform shutdowns.
- What if I need more than one page later?
- I add pages at $97/page (same hand-coded, fast, owned). Most small businesses don't need more than a one-page site for the first 6-12 months.
- Is the site mobile-friendly?
- Yes, mobile-first design. Passes Google's Mobile-Friendly Test and Core Web Vitals. >60% of local-business traffic is mobile — this isn't optional.
- What's included for SEO?
- Title tag, meta description, canonical link, OG tags, Twitter Card, JSON-LD schema, sitemap.xml, robots.txt, alt text on every image. Plus a Lighthouse 95+ score. Same SEO infrastructure typical agencies charge $500-1500 for.
- Where will the site be hosted?
- Vercel free tier or Netlify free tier — $0/year through year one. Free SSL, global CDN, 99.99% uptime. After year one, $5-12/year for shared hosting or stay free.
- Does it include a contact form?
- Yes — basic Formspree free tier (50 submissions/month free). Submissions arrive in your email inbox.
